PRESS RELEASE - July 28, 2015
After much deliberation and with heavy hearts, the owners of Musik Innovations would like to announce that we have made the difficult decision not to renew the lease at our current location of 9795 Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090. We moved to this location in 2005, and our lease will expire on December 31st, 2015.
Founded in 1979, by local musicians Jean F. Wilmouth (1938 – 2007) and his wife Rita S. Wilmouth (1940 – 2012), Musik Innovations began as a modest mail order business out of their home. Today, Musik Innovations is one of the largest music stores in western Pennsylvania. Musik Innovations is now owned by their daughters Gretchen Wilmouth (Business Manager) and Danièle Wilmouth (Creative Director). Gretchen became actively involved in the business in 2007, supporting her mother after Jean passed away. She took over full-time management of the store in 2012 after Rita’s passing. Daughter Danièle, helps with the advertising and online presence of the business, through social media, graphic and website design. “I’m glad to have been involved and able to continue our family tradition for the last eight years. But it has also been difficult; I’ve been commuting from Northern Virginia where I live with my husband. Signing another lease is just not a good option at this time. Unfortunately even good things come to an end at some point, help us to celebrate the great things we did and end on a high note.” said Gretchen Wilmouth.
Much of our success over the past 36 years can be attributed to our knowledgeable staff, many of who have been with us for over 20 years, as well as our thriving School of Music community. We would also like to thank our many loyal customers (churches, schools & music teachers) for all their support over the years. We want to help everyone get through the busiest time – the beginning of the school year and preparation for the holidays. Our String Repair Shop and School of Music will continue to operate normally through the transition. Musik Innovations will continue to serve the music communities of Pittsburgh, Western Pennsylvania and the nation until it closes on December 31st, 2015.
